F1 journalist Lawrence Barretto names Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez among his big losers from the Austrian Grand Prix on F1.com. Both drivers failed to live up to expectations on Sunday.

Sergio Perez crashed out of the Red Bull Ring after colliding with George Russell. Perez said there was nothing he could do when he tried to overtake Russell on the outside of Turn 4. Perez's loss at Spielberg also saw his 100-percent finishing record go up in smoke at the track, and he had to let Charles Leclerc pass him in the standings.

Verstappen couldn't live up to it

Perez, however, was not the only Red Bull Racing driver Barretto felt had not done well. Indeed, Verstappen was singled out as one of the losers for failing to win the race in front of tens of thousands of Orange fans.

For a long time it seemed that Verstappen had the best chances to win the race, after he trained on pole position on Friday and won the sprint race on Saturday. However, on the most important day, Sunday, things went wrong. The Dutchman had problems with tyre wear and could not keep up with the Ferrari's fast pace. A retirement for Carlos Sainz and the fastest lap meant that the damage was limited.
