Perez: "If the guy next to you perform better, you should be proud of that"

Max Verstappen calls the relationship he has with his current teammate at Red Bull Racing the best yet. Sergio Perez and the Dutchman are not in a mutual rivalry and are proud of each other's achievements.
Verstappen has had several teammates and says he has the best relationship with his current teammate at Red Bull. The Dutchman briefly drove alongside Carlos Sainz at Toro Rosso, and Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon also briefly came into action alongside the reigning world champion. Verstappen drove alongside Daniel Ricciardo the longest and halfway through his second year alongside Perez, the Dutchman takes stock.
Perez best teammate of Verstappen
In a YouTube video from LADbibleTV the teammates sit opposite each other. Verstappen talks about his partnership with Ricciardo: "Of course I was very young when I came into F1. I do think my relationship with Daniel was excellent. I was eighteen or nineteen at the time. I have a very different outlook on life now. I would say my relationship with Sergio is the best relationship I have had with a teammate. That is also because I am a lot more mature now. You approach your colleague differently". The driver thus insinuates that his relationship with Perez is better than the relationship with Ricciardo.
As the clear leader of the team, Verstappen also has little to fear from teammates. Pérez also knows Verstappen is the stronger of the two and admits: "I have experienced jealousy from my teammates in the past. Of course you want to win, but if the guy next to you is doing better than you, then you have to accept that and be proud of it." Perez focuses mainly on the good team results: "I don't think many people can handle that well. Between us it doesn't matter much. If I win or if Max wins then we are always proud of each other."
