Wolff states improvements needed: "The overall package isn't good enough"

Mercedes will start the French Grand Prix from fourth and sixth place tomorrow, with Lewis Hamilton beating his teammate George Russell on the final run of qualifying. Lando Norris split the two Brits and Toto Wolff isn't best pleased with his team's performance this afternoon.
"We knew once we get the tyres on and driving the car in anger, that we'd be there as a third force but it's just not good enough," the Austrian told Sky Sports after qualifying.
Mercedes on the back foot?
Despite standing on the podium for four races in a row, Wolff seems to think that Mercedes needs to refind it's strength and put themselves on the front foot. He stated: "You can see when you're on the back foot, your expectations are at a certain level for the race weekend and it doesn't come together, freestyling starts."
He finished by explaining how some work was being tested on the car but it still needs to improve as soon as possible, "we were experimenting with rear wing levels and tyre temperatures but the overall package isn't good enough."
