Charles Leclerc starts from pole position at the French Grand Prix. The Dutchman set a faster time than Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, who finished second and third respectively.

Leclerc was helped by his teammate Carlos Sainz who has to start from the nineteenth position because of his grid penalty. Kevin Magnussen also received a penalty for replacing several engine parts, which means he will have to start from twentieth place.

Mercedes could also be satisfied. The German team managed to set fourth and sixth fastest times, while Lando Norris was good for fifth place. His teammate Daniel Ricciardo set the ninth fastest time. Fernando Alonso (seventh), Yuki Tsunoda (eighth) and Esteban Ocon (tenth) were the other drivers in the top ten.
