Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc will start Sunday afternoon's race in Hungary from second and third positions respectively, while Max Verstappen will start tenth. Although this seems to be a clear advantage for the Ferrari drivers, the teammates do not want to focus too much on the Dutchman. They tell that at the FIA press conference.

The world championship leader is well behind Leclerc and Sainz on Sunday, so Verstappen will have to do his best to fight his way to the front. Both drivers therefore seem to have a safe lead, although Sainz wants no part of it.

"I don't know what do you mean by safe, but I think tomorrow our target is to win the race not focus too much where Max is," the Spaniard told me. "We know that if we want to get points in the championship, the easiest way to do that is by winning so independent of where Max is we want to go for that win."

Leclerc goes for victory in Hungary

Leclerc concurs. The Monegasque will do well this weekend to move closer to Verstappen in the world championship. He will not make up the 63 points deficit quickly, but just before the summer break all the points are worth it.

"Nothing to add," he responds to his teammate. "I think we'll try and go for the win. And, and yeah, Max is starting tenth so it might take him a bit more laps to come back to the front but we'll just focus on ourselves and try to win the race."
