F1 World Championship standings | Verstappen sees Leclerc fall away
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen has once again created a large gap in the drivers' championship. The Dutchman can add 25 points in the fight against Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari driver did manage to finish this time after his crash in France, but he dropped from P2 to P6 after a dramatic Ferrari strategy.
Verstappen is now top of the driver's championship with 258 points. The Red Bull Racing driver has thus increased his lead over Leclerc in the title race. The difference between the two rivals is now 80 points, so the Dutchman can go into the summer break with a good feeling.
Sergio Perez is slowly closing in on Leclerc's lead, the difference is now only five points. George Russell has now overtaken Carlos Sainz and climbed to P4. His teammate Lewis Hamilton is only ten points behind Sainz after his second place at the Hungaroring, so the Spaniard will have to work hard after the summer break to stay ahead of the Mercedes driver. There is no change in the driver's championship standings.
