Despite Daniel Ricciardo's struggles this year and last, he would have no shortage of candidates. For example, four different teams have reportedly contacted him in the past two weeks to see what his plans are for the next Formula One season.

Ricciardo still has a contract with McLaren, but it is far from certain that the Australian will be back with the team in 2023. The driver seems to be enjoying himself less and less and continues to lose out to the constantly improving Lando Norris. The doubts that Zak Brown openly expressed about the driver will not help.

Ricciardo's chances in 2023

Brown has admitted that Ricciardo is not living up to expectations and stated that he had the option to tear up the contract early. Meanwhile, the rumours surrounding Oscar Piastri 's arrival at McLaren are increasing, especially after Piastri denied he would race for Alpine in 2023. The McLaren CEO would now wait until the Australian himself decides to leave, in order to prevent the team from having to pay a fine to the driver. Ricciardo, in turn, would not be willing to let his boss get away with it so easily.

In any case, according to ESPN Ricciardo has plenty of options with other F1 teams. Four different teams are said to have contacted the Australian, who has an option in his contract to leave McLaren after this year, in the past two weeks. Such talks between drivers and teams are not uncommon, but it does indicate that Ricciardo is still a sought-after driver in the premier class of motor racing.
