Lewis Hamilton travelled through parts of Africa for a two weeks during the summer break. The Brit revealed on Instagram that he has changed a lot as a person and that he cannot wait to return.

While other drivers are lying in the pool or at the beach during the four-week summer break, Hamilton chose to visit countries such as Namibia, Rwanda and Kenya. On Instagram, the seven-time world champion shares photos and videos of his trip and also talks about his feelings.

"These past two weeks have been some of the best days of my entire life. I’m not the same man I was before this trip, all the beauty, love, and peacefulness I experienced has me feeling fully transformed. No amount of photos could capture how I’m feeling now and what I’m trying to say. Just know, where words fall short emotions run deep", Hamilton wrote in his message.

Hamilton feels deeply connected

"I connected with my roots and my history and I feel my ancestors with me now stronger than I ever have before. Namibia, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania thank you. To the people here, the nature and the wildlife thank you. We were welcomed to each beautiful place we visited. We were treated like family. To my brothers who joined me on this journey, thank you. I know we’ll be talking about this forever", ends the Mercedes driver.

On Twitter, the Brit said he can't wait to return, but for now Hamilton will have to focus on the second half of the season, with the Belgian Grand Prix coming up next week. The race in Spa-Francorchamps will mark the start of the first triple header of the season.
