Jos Verstappen ends rally weekend: "Am proud that we finished"

On the third and final day of the WRC Ypres Rally, there were four stages on the programme for Jos Verstappen. The former Formula 1 driver finished 25th, 26th, 24th and 25th overall, although it must be said that there were ten competitors in a faster WRC class. Verstappen sr. is reasonably satisfied after his performance this Sunday.
Where Jos crashed on the Saturday and could not come back into action, one day later things went much better. With Harm van Koppen as navigator, he stayed out of trouble, although the father of Max noticed that he is still very inexperienced compared to the competition. Verstappen sr. stepped into a rally car only for the fifth time.
"It went well today. My limited knowledge of the course is a problem, but that is why we are here: to learn a lot and gain experience. For both myself and my co-driver, it was the first time we drove in Ypres. You know how difficult Ypres can be and Saturday we were surprised. It is a pity that we lost the race, because otherwise we could have had a good result. But I am happy that we were able to compete again today. We were able to learn a lot and I am proud that we finished", Jos says at Verstappen.nl.
Gaining experience
Verstappen sr. wants to drive a lot this year and gain experience. According to himself it will take some time before he can compete for wins in the World Championship, as it is a very difficult and competitive championship. This weekend, the Dutch duo finished 25th in the overall standings.
