Coulthard deeply impressed: 'Verstappen is a phenomenon, a legend'

There is increasing talk of the possibility of Max Verstappen breaking the impressive record of thirteen wins in a Formula One season. To match the record of Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel, the Dutchman needs three more wins, or four to break the record. David Coulthard rates Verstappen's chances very high.
Coulthard believes Verstappen has a good chance of winning the record, especially given the circuits still to be covered this season. "I think it's a record he can attain, although I actually don't think he needs to," the former Formula One driver told Viaplay.
'Verstappen is a phenomenon, a legend'
Asked whether Verstappen can already be considered a legend, Coulthard replied that he has long seen the world champion as such. He cites the decisive moment at last year's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as an example, in which the Dutchman overtook Lewis Hamilton on the final lap of the race to secure his first world title.
"To be in that position on the last lap while the world championship is still open is one thing, but to make the pass - he did it so early in the lap - Max Verstappen is a phenomenon. He is an exceptional racing driver, he is a legend," Coulthard said.
