LIVEBLOG | The second free practice for the 2022 Italian Grand Prix
The Italian GP has been a success to the outsiders in recent years. In 2021, Daniel Ricciardo won the race on behalf of McLaren, after Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen finished on top of each other. The 2020 race was also spectacular, with Pierre Gasly taking his first ever F1 win on behalf of AlphaTauri.
Surprises in Monza
It's a picture of the last few years, however, as before 2019 a driver who was also competing for the world title often won. For example, Mercedes dominated between 2014 and 2018, Sebastian Vettel won twice at Monza on behalf of Red Bull Racing and Michael Schumacher was also very successful at Ferrari's home circuit. In 2022 Max Verstappen is the favourite, but the Tifosi will be hoping for a victory by Carlos Sainz or Charles Leclerc.
During the second free practice session, drivers and teams will focus on a qualifying and race simulation. The session kicks off at 17:00 local time and lasts 60 minutes. Don't miss anything of the latest news by following this live blog.
