On Saturday, the news came out that Alexander Albon will not be able to finish the F1 weekend in Italy. The Thai driver has suffered appendicitis and will have to be treated in hospital.
No Albon on the grid in Italy
Albon has appendicitis and let it be known via Twitter that he needs surgery. "Appendicitis, surgery and no racing isn’t what I was expecting this weekend!" Of course, Albon remains in for a laugh, despite the annoying situation. "Negative: Missing out on what looked to be a strong weekend for us and pain. Positive: weight reduction for Singapore and cool scars."
Albon will be replaced in Italy by Williams reserve driver Nyck de Vries. The Dutchman was in action in the first free practice session for Aston Martin on Friday. De Vries is one of the candidates to take over Nicholas Latifi 's seat in 2023.
