De Vries gets support from Williams: 'He is fast and confident'

Nyck de Vries is having a remarkable weekend. While on Friday he was allowed to drive for Aston Martin in the first free practice, one day later he received the news from Williams that he would replace Alexander Albon for the rest of the weekend. Jost Capito is confident that the Dutchman will do well.
De Vries was still searching with Williams in the third free practice session, but managed to sit not far off Nicholas Latifi's time. Williams expects a strong De Vries at Monza, although the task for the driver is difficult.
"It will be Nyck's first Formula 1 race, so of course there is some pressure," the team boss told De Telegraaf. "But above all he is looking forward to it enormously. It's finally happening for him. It is a pity for Alex, because the car is doing well at this circuit. But for Nyck it is a great opportunity. He is ready, fast and confident."
De Vries hopes for final spot for 2023
Earlier this weekend De Vries said he believes he deserves a place in Formula 1 next season. Williams, among others, is reportedly interested in bringing him on as a replacement for Latifi, making this weekend very important for De Vries.
