Max Verstappen is seriously considering that he will face more competition next season, he told Formulapassion.it. Whereas this race year he is mainly battling Ferrari and Mercedes for the prizes, he expects Aston Martin could just step up.
Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel picked up just 25 points for the team so far in 2022, putting it in ninth place in the constructors' championship. However, by bringing in Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin has struck an important blow for the coming years.
Verstappen keeps an eye on Alonso
Verstappen holds the Spanish driver in high regard and believes he can help the team move forward. With his vast experience and mentality, he expects Aston Martin, which has repeatedly stated that it wants to fight for wins, could just go for wins next year.
"Aston Martin is a team aiming for the top of F1," Verstappen stated in conversation with Italian Medium. "They get a lot of people, so I understand Fernando's choice to go there to get more good results. I think it's an exciting challenge, so I would look out for him next year."
