Hamilton praises cooperation with FIA president: 'I'm very happy'

Lewis Hamilton is happy with new FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem and the way he wants to shape the future of motorsport with the FIA. The two men often exchange ideas with each other, Hamilton reveals.
Sulayem took over from Jean Todt at the FIA. The president is keen to improve the sport, something he has done well so far according to Hamilton. "I am in contact with him very often. I talk to him a lot. He is very ambitious. He has raced himself, so he has the attitude of a racer", the seven-time world champion is quoted by Speedweek.com.
Hamilton happy with FIA again
After the controversial Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, many changes have been made internally within the FIA. However, there are still question marks over the consistency of the FIA, especially now that Eduardo Freitas and Niels Wittich are rotating as race directors. Earlier this year, Hamilton was hit hard by the ban on jewellery in the cockpit. The Brit clearly did not agree with the new rule, but he stresses that Sulayem does not have an easy job. "It is not an easy task for anyone."
Although Hamilton initially seemed unhappy with the FIA, that relationship now seems to have improved. "He wants to work with all of us and he also wants to work for more diversity and change, so I am very happy", says the Mercedes driver.
