Herta uses De Vries as an example: 'All credit to him'
- GPblog.com
Colton Herta hoped to debut in Formula 1 next season, but has to put that dream on hold for now. This is because the driver was denied permission by the FIA to enter the motorsport class. However, he still has hope and is holding out for Nyck de Vries, he told F1-insider.com.
The Dutchman was suddenly allowed to fill in for Alexander Albon at the Italian Grand Prix and managed a handsome ninth finishing spot to his name. It caused several teams with Alpine, Williams and AlphaTauri to show interest in him.
"The whole thing with De Vries shows how fast things can go," Herta argues. "He's already 27, soon to be 28. But with what he did at Monza, he caused some calls. It proves that if you get the chance, you have to take it. That's what he did, so all credit to him."
Herta sees plenty of opportunities for improvement
Herta, however, is critical of himself and in the same interview, reveals that he can improve himself in enough ways. He therefore tries to see his current situation in a positive way by working on himself. After next season, he then hopes for a chance in Formula 1 after all.
