F1 timetable rocked by evening sessions for Singapore Grand Prix
- GPblog.com
After a three-week break, the Formula 1 circus returns to action next weekend for the Singapore Grand Prix. Find out what time to turn on for the sessions at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Verstappen to become world champion for second time
Over the next eight weeks, the final six races of the 2022 F1 season will be completed. Max Verstappen is on his way to his second world title with a wide margin of 116 points ahead of Charles Leclerc. The Dutchman is likely to secure his title during the first Double Header in Singapore and Japan.
To become champion already in Singapore, Verstappen does need some help from his rivals. If Verstappen wins and takes the fastest lap, he will take the world title if Leclerc finishes ninth or lower and Sergio Perez fourth or lower. Only 138 points remain to be distributed after Singapore, so it is not entirely in Verstappen's hands. That is the case in Japan when only 112 points remain to be distributed after that race in 2022.

Singapore may well be the biggest chance for the competition to beat Verstappen. Although street circuits do not normally suit Mercedes, the W13 should be able to perform better on this twisty track than on all the other power circuits to follow. Ferrari also has an advantage over Red Bull Racing, as the F1-75 is often a bit stronger in qualifying. The fact that you cannot overtake as easily at Marina Bay also helps the Scuderia.
Grand Prix weekend in Singapore
However, there is no doubt that Verstappen is the favourite for the Grand Prix after his impressive run of five consecutive wins. The weekend begins for Verstappen and consorts on Friday 30 September with a first free practice session at 18:00 local time. For United Kingdom fans, this means 11:00am. The second free practice will follow at 14:00 UK time.
As the sessions in Singapore are held in the evening, European fans will notice little of the time difference with the Asian country. On Saturday, the third and final free practice session is at 11:00 UK time and qualifying starts at 14:00. The race starts at 13:00 on Sunday.
This weekend, the Singapore GP can again be followed on Viaplay, where qualifying and the race will also feature an extensive pre- and post-race commentary. At F1TV, you can also follow the race with a subscription and then choose commentary from different countries. At GPblog, you won't miss any of the action on track this weekend either with liveblogs of each session. Before and after the session, GPblog will also, as usual, be the first to feature the summary of the session, reactions, analysis and much more.
