Alexander Albon is enjoying a successful season at Williams. The Thai returned to Formula 1 this calendar year after a disappointing spell at Red Bull Racing. However, the driver, speaking to Give Me Sport, says he is still benefiting from that time.

The Austrian formation brought him in as Pierre Gasly's replacement in mid-2019. The pressure on Albon was immediately very high. In a year and a half, he failed to convince Red Bull, after which the team decided to part with him.

Albon on experience in F1

It caused a big blow to Albon's career. In 2021, his departure prevented him from competing in Formula 1 and he had to accept a place behind the scenes. This season, he is back and, he says, benefiting considerably from his Red Bull time.

"It definitely helps to have experience with another car," he explained. "It’s honestly maybe something which people don’t realise, but driving different cars really helps broaden your scope on what cars can do."

"And getting that experience from another team and seeing how it feels differently, it’s much harder if you’ve been in one team for your whole life because you kind of don’t know the other possibilities of what a car can do or feel like."
