McLaren favours Norris with upgrade: 'I think this will be our last update'

Daniel Ricciardo will have to do without McLaren's latest update package at the Singapore Grand Prix after the team chose to favour his teammate Lando Norris with the limited parts available.
McLaren is engaged in an exciting battle with Alpine for fourth place in the constructors' championship, where Alpine currently has the upper hand. Earlier, Alpine announced a comprehensive update package for the Singapore GP, but McLaren is not arriving empty-handed either.
Updates for Norris
However, the Woking-based team does not yet have enough parts available for both drivers and has opted to give them to Norris first. Ricciardo is resigned to that decision and expects to get the updates himself at the next race weekend in Japan.
Looking to the future, the Australian does understand McLaren's choice. "A lot of it as well is development in the direction of 2023, so it’s pretty much that. Obviously he’s here next year, I’m not," Ricciardo said in conversation with The Race. He, therefore, does not find it strange that Norris will get an extra weekend to provide the team with feedback for next year. "I think this will be our last update, so I would say as of Japan I foresee us having the same stuff until the end of the year," Ricciardo concludes.
