This is why Verstappen was not allowed to finish his lap
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen looked set to grab pole position in Singapore, but the Dutchman had to abort his closing lap. It is now known why race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase did not allow Verstappen to finish his lap. The Red Bull Racing driver had possibly had too little fuel in his tank when finishing his lap.
Disqualification would have resulted and Red Bull did not want to risk that. Verstappen will now start from eighth on Sunday.
Why Verstappen aborted his lap in Singapore
Confirmed from Red Bull that it was a lack of fuel that meant it had to ask Verstappen to box. If he'd completed lap, getting back to pits might have left car without enough for a fuel sample #F1 #SingaporeGP
