Norris: 'Everyone at McLaren wants to fight back'
- GPblog.com
Lando Norris is not discouraged by McLaren's disappointing season. In an interview with Motorsport.com the driver looks ahead to the coming years.
McLaren experienced a good race in Singapore. Thanks to Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo grabbing spots four and five respectively, and the retirement of both Alpine cars, the team has now moved up to fourth place among constructors. With five races to go, the battle behind the vanguard is by no means over, as McLaren is just four points ahead of Alpine.
Norris, who is still under contract at McLaren until 2025, is still confident about the team's future. Even though the team could not compete for wins this year, Norris believes the team can do so in the future because the team has the right attitude.
"Everyone is working incredibly hard in an effort to get back to where Ferrari is, and where Red Bull is, and where Mercedes is. I'm not the only one who feels that way, everyone at McLaren wants to win and fight back. Everyone feels that way, and everyone still believes in the team."
In the past decade, McLaren have only managed to win one race: the 2021 Monza Grand Prix, in which Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen eliminated each other. Norris is currently seventh in the championship with 100 points, well ahead of teammate Ricciardo in 11th.
