Clear language from Steiner: 'I'm done with rookies at the moment'

Guenther Steiner is no longer interested in rookies at Haas. The team boss is looking for an experienced driver to be Kevin Magnussen's teammate in 2023. However, Haas is taking all the time it needs to make the right choice.
In 2021, Haas took a risk by hiring two inexperienced rookies Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin. In Japan, Steiner reveals that he is done with rookies in his team for now.
"I would say I'm done in the moment with rookies for the foreseeable future. But I mean, we need to see what is best for the team or who’s the best person or who is the best driver to bring the team forward", the team boss is quoted by The Mirror.
Haas does not want to regret decision
Haas will only decide on Magnussen's teammate for next season at the end of October. Talks between Schumacher and his team are said to have started in the meantime, but Haas is also said to be in talks with Nico Hulkenberg. The German has a lot of experience in Formula 1, so he will be an attractive option for Steiner. "There’s not a lot of options, so we just want to make sure that we take the right decision and have no regrets next year", says the team boss.
