Toto Wolff and Mattia Binotto are missing this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix. The team bosses of Mercedes and Ferrari respectively feel the F1 calendar is too full to attend everything.
Binotto and Wolff not in Japan
Wolff and Binotto will not be visible at their team's pit wall or garage this weekend. Wolff previously revealed to the AP that he would skip some more races in 2022 due to the crowded calendar. Not only Wolff, but other people from the team would also be alternated during this period.
Wolff not being in Japan does not mean he is not at work. He does attend the meetings as usual, so he is aware of everything going on at the circuit. Mattia Binotto, according to Motorsport-total.com also not in Japan. He travelled to Italy where he too will be working from the factory.
