Alpine is the next team to set its driver duo for 2023. Gasly comes over from the Red Bull family to Alpine to become Esteban Ocon's teammate. This gives French Alpine its dream French line-up for 2023.

Alpine's bizarre silly season

Alpine was embroiled in a particularly silly season. On the one hand, Ocon has a multi-year deal, but Alonso's departure was still somewhat unexpected for the French team. However, Alpine had another super talent sitting on the bench and announced Oscar Piastri as Ocon's teammate. This did not go through as Piastri had already signed a deal with McLaren. The two teams had to go to the Contract Recognition Board for the Australian driver's services, where McLaren came out on top.

This was followed by a search that brought Alpine to Gasly. The problem, though, was that Gasly had already signed a deal with AlphaTauri for 2023. In the end, Red Bull Racing was no longer in the Frenchman's way and let him leave for Alpine.

Gasly and Ocon not friends

Another thing that played into Gasly's possible arrival at Alpine was the bad relationship he has with Ocon. The two do not seem to like getting along and you never see them together in the paddock. Anyway, the two will have to work together from 2023.

Pierre Gasly will not drive for AlphaTauri in 2023, but joins Alpine. There, the Frenchman replaces Fernando Alonso, who in turn leaves for Aston Martin.
