Russell is guilty: 'Was a miserable and disappointing afternoon'

George Russell had a difficult afternoon in the United States. Things already went wrong at the first corner when he tapped Carlos Sainz. The Briton has since apologised to Sainz. Russell is already looking ahead to 2023, in which he and Mercedes want to compete for wins.
Russell balks after race
"It was a pretty miserable disappointing afternoon probably not good enough from my behalf," Russell said in a conversation with Sky Sports F1. Russell collided with Sainz early in the race, causing the Ferrari driver to retire. "I apologize to Carlos. I should have been aware of that."
Apology accepted...

Russell says that the Mercedes W13 is not an easy car to drive and this was once again evident in Texas. "The car has been so unpredictable this year. There have been circuits that surprised us and circuits that we have been a bit faster. Brazil might be a good opportunity because we have the sprint race there."
Mercedes making progress
Lewis Hamilton drove for a long time in the lead in the other Mercedes and, according to Russell, that shows how much progression the German team has made. " When we get everything right we are still a little bit behind them [Red Bull]."
