Red Bull Racing clinched the constructors' title in an emotionally charged weekend. Sergio Perez made a fine comeback from ninth place, but fell just short of the podium. He was hampered by a badly damaged front wing in the process, though.

Perez on Red Bull era

Perez stresses the importance of winning the constructors' title, especially on a weekend like this. "It certainly means a lot for us," said the Mexican, who is happy that his team have been able to end Mercedes' dominance in the hybrid era. "It's been a big dominance by Mercedes in the last few years, so I really hope that the era of Red Bull starts now and that we are able to dominate the next few years."

The Red Bull driver spoke of an "intense battle" during his race, in which he was hampered early on by damage to his front wing. "That really hurt our race. I think once we realized half the front wing was missing, we tried to manage it with the diff and such and it helped, but in the end I think I needed one more lap." Perez said towards Formula1.com.

Towards the end of the race, Perez approached Charles Leclerc's Ferrari but just failed to overtake the Monegasque. Helmut Marko praised the performance of Perez, who drove steadfastly despite the missing wing end plate. Haas tried to drag out a penalty for the Mexican but received zero response from the FIA.
