Another chance has been lost for Mick Schumacher to keep his seat at Haas for 2023. The German himself still hopes to be allowed to stay, but Christian Danner does not think it is a big problem if it does not work out.

Schumacher is under considerable pressure at Haas. According to Gené, the German has folded Haas too many cars and is not scoring enough points. In America, Schumacher had another good chance at points, but again it was Kevin Magnussen and not Schumacher who managed to bring in the points for the American team.

Pressure on Schumacher

Schumacher stated to the German RTL that he believes in his chances. Schumacher reportedly lost downforce during the race because a piece of dirt from the cars of Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso had damaged his car. ''I think the team knows what I am capable of,'' the 23-year-old driver revealed.

Schumacher's position, however, is shaky. He needs to score points, otherwise Haas may opt for Nico Hulkenberg. The experienced rookie might be able to finish in the points more regularly with his experience. According to Danner, Schumacher himself has not helped the fact that he has an edge with the team's management. Indeed, his entourage, with uncle Ralf Schumacher leading the way, has criticised Haas on several occasions this year.

Whether that ultimately costs Schumacher his head remains to be seen. His chance at Williams is also gone, so Haas is the last seat left for 2023. However, Danner is not worried about Schumacher's F1 future, even after a gap year Schumacher should be able to return. In 2024, we are likely to see Audi replace Alfa Romeo and that brand will be only too happy to see a German driver in that team.
