Horner happy with American driver: 'It shouldn’t just be Brad Pitt'

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner is happy with the possible arrival of Logan Sargeant on the Formula 1 grid, as the Briton says this is good for F1. For his part, Sargeant just needs to secure a super licence in the final Formula 2 weekend in Abu Dhabi.
Sargeant gets seat at Williams
During the US Grand Prix weekend, Williams team boss Jost Capito revealed that Sargeant will get the second Williams seat alongside Alexander Albon, provided he manages to gain enough super licence points.
Horner thinks it is important that the sport finally gets an American driver on the grid again. "I think it's great news. Congrats to Jost and the Williams team on hopefully achieving that – obviously still subject to the Super Licence – which I think is another topic that we perhaps need to have a look at," the FIA press conference echoes.
American driver is important
Horner says he is happy to see the Americans embracing Formula 1. A record number of fans were present at the Circuit of the Americas over the weekend, and with the arrival of Las Vegas on the calendar, F1 will have three races in the US next season.
"I think we need an American driver. Not only just a driver, we need a successful driver in there competing as well. It shouldn't just be Brad Pitt," Horner said. Before the announcement of Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri, it seemed for a while that Red Bull's sister team would move forward with an American driver of its own. The deal with Colton Herta did not materialise because he did not have enough points for a super licence.
