Max Verstappen holds a new record after his 14th win of the season at the Mexican Grand Prix. The Dutchman overtakes Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher with the most wins in a single season. The Red Bull Racing driver is obviously delighted with the result in Mexico City.

Verstappen drove a dominant race in Mexico. After starting from pole, the Dutchman did not run into any problems and managed to keep the Mercedes drivers and teammate Sergio Perez behind him. Hamilton stayed close for a long time, but eventually, Verstappen crossed the finish line with a 15-second gap to Lewis Hamilton. Mercedes seemed to have made the wrong choice by opting for the hard tyre in the second stint.

After the race, the Red Bull Racing driver reacted in front of the cameras on the grid. Verstappen stated that the start went according to plan. "That helped me out a lot to stay in the lead [the start] after turn one, and also on a different strategy to the cars around us. Again an incredible result and the car was nice."

RB18 good on tyres

Pirelli had expected to see many two-stoppers, but Verstappen opted for the strategy with long runs on softs and mediums. 'Tyre whisperer' Verstappen handled this wonderfully at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez. "We had to look after the tyres because it was a long stint on them."

For Verstappen, it was his fourth win ever in Mexico. At no other circuit did Verstappen pick up more wins. "There's a great atmosphere, we love coming here. It's been a great year so far. We are enjoying it and keep going for more," he concluded.
