Max Verstappen has set a smashing record with his win in Mexico. Helmut Marko argues that Red Bull Racing could never have imagined that Verstappen is in such form as he is showing now, but at the same time fears that his team cannot simply repeat this trick.

Marko realistic

Marko can hardly grasp how the 2022 Formula 1 season has developed. "We could not have calculated that Max would be in such form. Everything is really coming together for us this year," said the Red Bull adviser in conversation with OE24. He notes that only Mercedes' 19 victories in 2016 are not achievable.

The latter is not the immediate goal for 2023, as Red Bull also realises that today's dominance is no guarantee for the future. "I hardly think everything may fit together like this for another season," Marko continues. At the same time, he warns that Verstappen has yet to reach the end of his potential.

Asked if Verstappen's dominant form does not make Formula 1 boring, Marko replies that Red Bull simply cannot take that into account. Moreover, he stresses that Verstappen is putting down anything but boring races.
