Aston Martin had a tough weekend in Mexico. Sebastian Vettel crossed the line in 14th place, stating that he felt like an "easy target" in the final stages of the race.

Vettel lasted 38 laps on softs, after which he changed to mediums. At that point, he started making his way through the field, but towards the end of the race, he struggled as drivers on softs overtook him. Moreover, he lost time when he got stuck behind Yuki Tsunoda, after which he became an "easy target" for the drivers who finished their race on softs.

Tough race for Vettel

"Overall, we were just a little bit too slow," Vettel admitted in conversation with Formula1.com. "At the start of the race, I could hold on to the cars in front of me, but then I was a bit unlucky to get tangled up with Yuki. His car was damaged, and he came back onto the track right in front of me. I lost too much time and was an easy target for the others."

Above all, the Aston Martin car "did not feel too great" for Vettel, who is especially relieved that the team did not lose too much ground in the battle for sixth place in the constructors' championship.
