Pirelli announces tyre choice for Brazilian GP: 'That will play a key role'

Next weekend, the second-to-last Grand Prix of 2022 is scheduled. The final sprint race of the year will also be held in Brazil. With that in mind, Pirelli has chosen the compounds that Formula 1 teams will get at Interlagos.
Pirelli makes choice of compounds
Pirelli has chosen the three middle compounds in the spectrum (C2, C3 and C4), taking into account expected overtaking. For the Grands Prix in the United States and Mexico, the tyre supplier made the same choice.
"There aren’t any big demands on the tyres in terms of traction and braking because it’s a very flowing layout, and the lack of slow corners means that the teams are able to control the degradation on the rear tyres," said Pirelli boss Mario Isola in a press release from the tyre supplier.
In addition, like last year, Brazil will host the final sprint race of the 2022 F1 season. Isola is very curious to see how the weekend will go with the new generation of F1 cars, which make tracking and overtaking easier than before. In doing so, he expects strategy to play a key role. "The new generation of cars and tyres seems set to provide us with another thrilling race this year," concludes the Pirelli boss.
