Red Bull Racing came back strongly after a shaky start to the season, only to take both world titles with several races to go. Sergio Perez stresses the importance of continuing that line into next year, in which he himself has fresh hopes of winning the world title.

Perez could not perform a heroic feat in his home race in Mexico. In the end, he did manage to celebrate with the frenzied fans along with Max Verstappen, but he had hoped for more. "In Mexico we had too many issues. I thought a much better result was on the cards," he began in the press conference for the Brazilian Grand Prix, broadcast by Sky Sports.

Perez wants to finish season strongly with Red Bull

He is therefore hoping for a trouble-free weekend at Interlagos. "Then we can show our true pace that we've had in the last few races," he adds. According to Perez, the most important thing now is for Red Bull to keep the momentum and take it into next year. "It's important we finish the season on a high so we can come back and start strong."

Summing up his season, the Red Bull driver said the following: "It started really well, some reliability issues but we were in the mix for the championship early on. I had a couple of bad races that really put me out of contention for the championship, so some work to do to keep consistency throughout and come back next year to fight for the title."
