Charles Leclerc ended the season in Abu Dhabi feeling positive. Although he failed to compete with Max Verstappen for the world title this year, he did manage to keep Sergio Perez behind him and take second place in the world championship.

The driver said in the FIA press conference, attended by GPblog, that he is confident about the upcoming season. Leclerc said he was struggling on three fronts with the Italian formation, but sees that the team has improved considerably in recent months.

"Reliability has been a problem at one point of the season, which we paid the price for later on with penalties and other things," he said, after which he also addressed the strategies. "I think we've done too many mistakes at one point of the season."

Finally, he feels that tyre management at Ferrari caused many problems. However, Leclerc argues that it is important to forget the current season quickly and head towards 2023 with a lot of energy when he still hopes to compete for the world title until the end of the calendar year.

"I felt like strategy has been definitely a step forward in the last few races, as I was saying before. Difficult to show because we don't have the pace that we had at the beginning of the year but the way we communicate, the way we take decisions is better."
