Vallteri Bottas ended his first season at Alfa Romeo with a 10th-place finish in the world championship. The Finn is very happy with the collaboration with the team and wants to take the next step in 2023 by finishing solidly in the points.

Alfa Romeo hopes to make great strides over the next few years to secure a place in the sub-top. However, that is not going to be easy. After all, Formula 1 last season saw a lot of competition that had a considerable lead over Bottas' team.

Nevertheless, Bottas expects it to be possible. "I don't think we are far from our goals," Bottas told Formulapassion.it. "For that, we want to make a big step, which is difficult but not impossible. For 2023, I think it is realistic to consistently finish in the points at every race and sometimes have a chance to fight for a podium finish with a bit of luck."

Zhou cannot yet compare to Bottas

In doing so, the Formula 1 team will hope that Zhou Guanyu will show more next season than in his first year. Indeed, where Bottas was good for 49 points, the Chinese did not get beyond six points. Zhou will therefore realise that his level needs to rise further.
