Jamie Chadwick is far from putting Formula 1 out of her mind. She may be crossing over to America in 2023, but that does not mean she has put aside her ultimate dream.

In 2023, three-time W Series champion Chadwick will make the switch to the Indy NXT Series. The stepping-up class for the IndyCar should help Chadwick further her development towards the top again. The W Series was precisely meant to help women climb the motorsport ladder, but the British driver has not yet been offered a Formula 3 or 2 seat.

Chadwick still dreams of F1

That is why she is making the move to America, but that does not mean the European dream has gone away. ''I think there's a lot I need to achieve before F1 is even on the cards. I think Indy NXT is potentially a really good opportunity, if I have success in it, to actually give me a chance of getting a good seat over in something like Formula 2 or Formula 3,'' Chadwick said at Sky Sports.

As part of the Williams Junior Academy, Chadwick is already supported by a Formula 1 team and there is even a chance of a test in 2023. F1 teams are required to field a rookie in two practice sessions and, as part of the Williams team, Chadwick hopes to get that chance.

''Ultimately my aim is to try to get in the car for a practice session. Obviously, there's nothing confirmed yet or anything like that, but the last couple of years that's something I've been pushing hard for, so hopefully it's something we can do. For me, I want that to be my goal. There's still a big step up to drive a Formula 1 car from where I was at in W Series but I'm hoping now that as a result of being involved in a championship like Indy NXT, that step is a bit closer and those opportunities can come,'' the British driver concludes.
