Just minutes after McLaren announced Andreas Seidl's departure, Sauber's expected announcement followed. There, Seidl will take over as CEO after Fred Vasseur leaves for Ferrari to succeed Mattia Binotto.

Seidl officially to Sauber

Seidl will start in his new position in January 2023 and will be tasked with continuing the growth of the Sauber Group as a whole. He takes over the CEO position from predecessor Fred Vasseur and will work with the team to appoint a new team boss.

Already familiar with the organisation, Seidl is delighted to join. "This is a team with a rich history in Formula 1 and an organisation I know really well from my time working and living in Hinwil for four years. I can’t wait to join the team and work with all the colleagues at the Sauber Group on the ambitious goals we have set together," the new CEO said in a Sauber press release.

Finn Rausing, chairman of the board of Sauber Holding AG, also reacted to the news with joy. "It is an immense pleasure to welcome Andreas Seidl back to Hinwil as CEO of the Sauber Group. Andreas’s experience is second to none and he brings to Sauber Group a clear understanding of what is required to achieve sustained success," Rausing said.
