Norris expects to have 'good battles' with Mercedes at Sunday's Grand Prix

Norris sets his sights on home race win against Mercedes

Lando Norris will start third on the grid for Sunday's British Grand Prix. This is the first time in history there has been three Brits in the top three positions, as he sits behind George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. Although he might be starting from P3, the Mercedes drivers do not scare the McLaren driver. 

Norris got off to a flying start on Friday, finishing first in both free practice sessions. Nevertheless, the same could not be said on Saturday, with Mercedes appearing to be stronger. In qualifying, Norris finished third. Asked whether he felt frustrated by not securing pole position for his home race, the Brit told David Coulthard: "I was [laying down the lap times] until the end, but no, I'm happy with the P3. Three Brits top three, so pretty cool here. Good laps by George and Lewis, they did an excellent job they put in some nice laps and a little mistake on my part at the end but P3's still good you're still good." 

Could Norris take the top step?

Last year, Norris finished second on the podium, behind Max Verstappen, but ahead of Hamilton. With rain predicted tomorrow, the race is set to be an exciting one, meaning all is still "100 per cent" all to play for according to the McLaren driver. "It's going to rain again tomorrow so I'm excited," he said. "It's going to be a good race. We're quick. I can bring the fight to George, and I can bring the fight to Lewis, so excited to put on a good show tomorrow." Despite Hamilton revealing he will work with his teammate to "keep Lando behind," this does not scare the Brit. "I hope we're going to have some good battles, so I am looking forward to it," Norris concluded.
