Almost three million people liked Daniel Ricciardo's farewell post on Instagram. The Australian's forced departure from Visa Cash App RB - and probably from Formula 1 - has touched many people. This includes the drivers and teams in Formula 1, who are reacting en masse to the news. Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton are just some of them.

Under Ricciardo's post on the social platform, Verstappen wrote: "Head up mate! Many more beautiful moments to come," reported the former teammate of the eight-time Grand Prix winner at Red Bull Racing. Lando Norris also drove alongside Ricciardo but at McLaren. He reported: "Ly brother", followed by a heart emoji.

Lewis Hamilton needed only one word to describe Ricciardo: "Legend". George Russell wrote: "Going to miss you mate!" Pierre Gasly, like Ricciardo once racing for Red Bull, added: "Congrats for what you achieved champ!" Fernando Alonso also used that last word: "New adventures to come champ." Ricciardo's fellow countryman also reacted. "Congrats on everything you achieved DR."

Mercedes praises Ricciardo for the battles

Some teams also said goodbye to Ricciardo. Alpine said: "You played an important part in our team’s history and whatever you do next, we’ll always remember that smile." Mercedes, for many years Ricciardo's main rival, looked back on the intense battle with the Australian: "You’ve been an incredible competitor over the years. Thanks for the many fun battles and the infectious energy you brought to our sport both on and off track."
