Sainz's verdict: Can Ferrari still win the constructors title?
McLaren still leads the Constructors' Championship, but Ferrari and Carlos Sainz are still hopeful that they can snatch the title off of their rivals. In Brazil, the Papaya team didn't have a great weekend. It was 12 points for both Norris and Piastri after finishing in sixth and eighth place respectively. Ferrari struggled too. Charles Leclerc finished in fifth whilst Sainz crashed out in the latter stages of the race. Still, they are in contention, and sit just 36 points behind McLaren with three races to go. Sainz is well and truly a beliver, as he revealed after the race.
Red Bull Racing had led the constructors championship comfortably since 2022, but there was a huge change earlier this season. Due to the unpredictable performance of the RB20, McLaren managed to put themselves in the lead. They're on course for their first constructors title since 1998. Red Bull are now in third, 49 points behind the leaders.
Ferrari's 1-2 in Austin and 1-3 in Mexico cemented their status as a serious contender. The Scuderia has managed to greatly close the gap with the British team in recent races.
Sainz: 'We will regroup and approach these races in the best possible way'
Sainz's good run of form was snapped in Brazil. The Spaniard had finished in second in Austin before winning in Mexico. His retirement cost him, but, are Ferrari still in with a shot? "Yeah, and we will be alive until the very end. Three weekends now coming up that are going to be obviously important for the whole team. And now we need to refocus. We regroup and see how we can approach these last three races in the best possible way." Sainz concluded. Before his exit from the Italian team at the end of the year, a constructors victory will leave a good taste in the mout before he joins the Williams project in 2025.
