The FIA will have a new Digital Director from Monday, November 18. Lee Fedden will start at his new post at F1's governing body with effect from that date. The Englishman, who studied Internet Engineering at the University of Essex, will be responsible for leading the digital strategy within the FIA.

Fedden will work from the FIA offices in London. He will report to general manager Alberto Villarreal. The Briton has previously been in charge of data and analytics at Williams' Formula 1 team. FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem is enthusiastic about the brand new addition to the FIA.

Ben Sulayem and Fedden speaking

The FIA president said "We are delighted to have someone with Lee's renowned expertise join the organisation to oversee the transformation of our IT operations. Lee brings a wealth of experience in the role of streamlining our digital and information systems and driving engagement with our stakeholders, especially our Member Clubs."

Fedden himself is also delighted with the new challenge. "I am thrilled to join the FIA at such an exciting time. I look forward to using my experience in digital transformation to enchance our digital capabilities and support the FIA's mission."

Void at the FIA in recent times

The governing body of motorsport's top class has said goodbye to two of its leading figures recently. Niels Wittich, the race director, resigned with immediate effect a few days ago, with Paolo Basarri also resigning from the FIA, it was reported on Thursday afternoon.
