Norris revisits friendship with Verstappen: 'I still respect him'
Lando Norris and Max Verstappen have locked horns on track several times already in the 2024 season. The McLaren driver, who gets on well with Verstappen off the track, revisited the topic of their friendship.
According to Norris, time will answer the question how does the championship battle changes his relationship with Verstappen. "In some ways, you kind of think how someone can be personally and how you can get along with people can be so different to how you are on trackt," the British driver told F1TV.
"It’s my first time being in this situation, and time will tell how that changes. But for now I still respect Max, I think he respects me, but maybe ask me again at the end of the year," Norris added.
During the current championship battle, Verstappen and Norris have met on track on multiple occasions. The pair made contact in Austria when fighting for the lead, and there were two controversial battles during the last tripleheader at COTA and then in Mexico City as well.
"He’s doing what he believes is best, which is fair dos. It might not always be the right thing, but we always do what we believe is right and we always do what we believe is the best at that time," Norris said of the battles with Verstappen.
