The first free practice session of the final Formula 1 weekend in 2024 has been run. Ahead of the Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, there was a practice session including six rookies. Here are the results of this weekend's first running.

Celebration for the Leclerc family:

For the Leclerc family, it was a day to remember. For the first time in Formula 1 history, two brothers in the same team were active in a session. Charles Leclerc had some battery problems but later came onto the track. These issues soon became a huge blow to Ferrari's championship hopes as it meant that Leclerc would take a 10-place grid penalty for the race on Sunday. His little brother, Arthur, managed to drive the whole session for Ferrari in Carlos Sainz's car.

Max Verstappen sat out of FP1. The session was dominated by a lot of rookies, including at Red Bull Racing. The four-time world champion was replaced by Formula 2 driver Isack Hadjar, who got the chance alongside Sergio Perez.
