What is Ferrari's best moment in 2024? 'It's got to be this one!'
Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has revealed his favourite moment of the 2024 season, and it might not be the one you think it is. After winning five races across the season, the Frenchman highlights one moment of celebration which stands out above the others.
Ferrari finished just 14 points behind McLaren in the constructor's championship in 2024. The Scuderia were ever so close to their first title since 2008. Still, there was lots to celebrate for team principal Frederic Vassseur and the team this season, including five victories across the course of the year.
'When I jumped into the water!'
One moment in specific stands out for Vasseur. The Frenchman highlights jumping into the harbour in Monte Carlo after home hero Charles Leclerc picked up his first win on the tight streets. "When I jumped into the water in Monaco!" Vasseur responded to GPblog and others when asked about his favourite moment. "More seriously, I think it was the fact that we improved and that we were able to react in the tough moments. Because to have a good dynamic, positive dynamic, to do good results, it's one thing, but to react when you are in the s*it like we were in Spain, Austria, it's quite important for the future of the team. It's on this kind of reaction that we are building up the future, the trust that we can have [in] each other, and I think it was the most important step of the season," Vasseur explained.
Next year, Lewis Hamilton will join Ferrari in what is one of, if not the most, anticipated driver moves ever. The seven-time world champion will partner Charles Leclerc as the Italian team aims to win both the drivers and constructors' titles in 2025.
