Sky commentator Brundle fumes at X-boss Elon Musk: 'He's a dick!'
- Ludo van Denderen
Martin Brundle is not the type to have a confrontation. While the former F1 driver and current Sky Sports commentator is known for his sharp insights, he rarely crosses the line into personal attacks or name-calling. However, an exception emerged on Monday night, when Brundle aimed an uncharacteristically pointed comment at Elon Musk.
Global frustration is mounting over the role Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, is carving out for himself in international politics. As the owner of the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Musk serves as an adviser to Donald Trump, the future president of the United States, while also involving himself in political discussions and debates in countries like Germany and Britain through his platform.
This has frustrated the former F1 driver. On X, Brudle said: "I’m conflicted. I like Twitter/X and it has served F1, Sky, me, and people around me, very well for a good while. But Elon Musk is such a daily globally interfering dick I feel the need to go somewhere else."

Former driver Frentzen responds
Heinz-Harald Frentzen, a former Formula 1 competitor of Martin Brundle, was quick to respond to the Brit's tweet. The German commented: "It’s not about who owns twitter or X it’s about you and what you say. Like most of the other racing guys here. I don’t get here political but it doesn’t matter anyway as I am not important. But if you leave X it would look like you take a political choice…."

Perhaps this comment by the former driver led Brundle to ultimately decide to stay active at X. "I’ve thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the diversity to my last post, including the negativity. That’s what keeps you alive and motivated, and in touch. I’ll stick with Twatter/X and keep my mind open. Opinions are like noses, everybody’s got one and they all count," the former driver concluded.
