Team confirms: Stoffel Vandoorne will be active in Formula 1 in 2025
- Ludo van Denderen
In an interview with GPblog late last year, Stoffel Vandoorne expressed confidence that he would continue his role with Aston Martin's Formula 1 team in 2025. Now, the British team has confirmed to GPblog that the Belgian will indeed stay on as a test and reserve driver for the upcoming season.
In an interview with this site in late 2024, Stoffel Vandoorne discussed his plans for the upcoming year. By that time, the Belgian had already secured seats in Formula E with Maserati and in the World Endurance Championship with Peugeot. Additionally, the former McLaren driver expressed his hope to continue his role with Aston Martin in Formula 1.
"I think I will still stay with the team," Vandoorne said at the time. "I have a very busy schedule. It depends a bit on all the other activities. But the priority remains Formula E and WEC. Then I'll see what else I can do with Aston Martin."
Young talent Crawford remains at Aston Martin
It is now confirmed that Stoffel Vandoorne will remain with Aston Martin in 2025. He will once again work alongside young talent Jak Crawford, who will also continue as a test and reserve driver. While there has been no official announcement regarding Felipe Drugovich, the Brazilian is widely expected to stay with the British team as well.
