The 2025 season is the last season under the current regulations. Thus, making it a year of transitions. In addition to all of the rule changes coming - there will also be a new team on the grid. George Russell thinks that while there is an interesting future ahead, it could also be one of concern.

Cadillac is set to join the F1 grid in 2026. George Russell is excited to see the grid expand. "From a driver's perspective, there's more opportunity. 20 race seats, it's always very challenging to get your chance.".

He told the media, including GPBlog, "But right now, there seems to be a lot of movement in Formula One. It keeps you on your toes. You've got to keep on performing. I think in that regard it's good. It's a good opportunity for the next generation."

Russell critical of FIA

On the other hand, Russell thinks that not all changes are an improvement. "Well, definitely when it comes to the FIA, so much is changing, too much is changing and too quickly". Russell is referring to all the leadership changes that have happened within the FIA these past few months.

He continued, "I think everybody has faith in Liberty and faith in Stefano [Domenicali]. He was a racer and he's got racing in his blood, so he's doing everything he can to get the sport in the best place possible."

His main concern for now is all about the sport itself. "We just need to make sure that the sport stays in this position or continues to grow and the only thing with all of this change…I hope it's not going to have a negative impact".
