Max Verstappen recently purchased private jet had undergone a test flight, and landed at both Maastricht and Eindhoven airport on Thursday. The Dutchmen responsible for air traffic control also had a couple of jokes ready for the pilot.
Verstappen's private jet amazes Dutch air control
A funny interchange took place between air control and the pilot, when Verstappen's private jet was completing its test run. "Is this as fast as his car?" air control asked, to which the pilot could only answer: "A little bit faster."
Later, the air traffic controllers could still be heard talking about the plane in Dutch. After arriving to Eindhoven from Maastricht, the jet was on its back to Cannes in France, that is near Monaco.
Ahead of the upcoming season, Verstappen traded his last private jet, a Falcon 900EX for the more powerful Dassault Falcon 8X. The new plane is worth approximately €50-55 million. One big advantage it has is that this new model can fly longer distances without the need to refuel, and that will therefore be useful for the Dutchman when traveling all over the world following F1's calendar.
Verstappen's plane remains on brand, with also having an orange lion pained on its tail. The private jet is also registered unthe the name PH-UTL, an abbreviated version of his slogan: 'Unleash the Lion'. The new jet is not the only thing the defending world champion purchased, as earlier in January, a new yacht was delivered to the Dutchman in Italy.
