Formula 2 driver Christian Mansell has announced that he will be stepping down from racing ahead of the start of the season next week due to 'personal reasons'. Mansell was due to drive in his home race in Australia at the season opener on the 14th-16th March.

Christian Mansell was due to participate in his first full season of Formula 2 this year with Rodin Motorsport. The Australian driver fought for the 2024 Formula 3 title with ART Grand Prix before competing in the final three rounds of the 2024 F2 season for TRIDENT where he scored 10 points.

Mansell shared in a statement on social media, "Hi Everyone, Just to let you know for personal reasons I have decided to step away from racing for a little while. Will keep you updated as to future plans. Love, Christian."

Rodin Motorsport stated, "Rodin Motorsport can confirm that Christian Mansell has announced he will be taking a step away from racing. We will share further details on our line up soon."

The Formula 2 season is due to start in Australia next weekend along with Formula 1, where Mansell was due to drive in his home race.

Mansell seemed excited before the season

Ahead of the season, Mansell shared to GPblog and other media his expectations for the upcoming season. "I’m going to approach it the same way I approached last year with ART in the fact of just deliver the absolute maximum of the car. I think we won’t know what a bad year or a good year looks like until after Bahrain and Jeddah to see where the car’s at, where I’m at, and then we can make a call on that."

Mansell seemed hopeful for the season despite being part of a rookie lineup, "We believe that we’re in a good place. We believe that we can maximise the package as much as a second year driver, or a third year driver. We’re honestly not too worried about the lack of experience because we managed to get all of the basics, all of the philosophy done very quickly. We truly believe that we’re in a good place."
