Jos Verstappen has decided to react online to a TV broadcast in the Netherlands, concerning his son, Max Verstappen. Verstappen Sr clearly shared his opinion on the rumour journalist Jack Plooij said on Ziggo Sport.

Max Verstappen is set to begin the season next week in Melbourne, Australia, with Red Bull Racing, as the Dutchman hopes to achieve his fifth drivers' world title in a row, matching Michael Schumacher's record.

After much talk over the previous season about whether Verstappen would end up leaving Red Bull Racing, on the Ziggo Sport Race Café programme, the topic was brought up. Renger van der Zande explained that he understood that Verstappen had landed in Eindhoven, and that half an hour later Toto Wolff's private jet landed at the same airport. The two planes then also took off one after the other. Based on that information, Van der Zande speculated that discussions must have taken place between the two parties.

Dutch journalist Jack Plooij then said it's been settled that the defending world champion will begin the upcoming season at Mercedes, given the clauses in his current deal. Currently, George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli drive for the Germans, but neither have a contract signed for 2026.

Jos Verstappen then did not keep his thoughts to himself, and replied to the video of the programme on X: "Jack, Jack, Jack. What nonsense you talk."

Entering the new campaign, Max Verstappen has talked at a Viaplay event where GPblog was present. Among other things, he talked about the biggest problem with the RB21 ahead of the Australian GP, and also referred to McLaren - without saying their name out loud - as the team who are the favourites in this moment in time.
